Training Schedule

Please check back here regularly for training schedule information.

Before choosing which course to take, you should be aware of the difference between being a HERS Rater and a Third Party Quality Control Installer (TPQC). Please consider the following questions to help decide whether you need to take the HERS or TPQC training and certification.

1. Are you a HVAC contractor/technician or an existing HERS rater?

A) If you are a HERS rater and not qualified/licensed as a HVAC contractor/technician, then you’ll need the HERS Rater training.

B) If you are a HVAC contractor/technician and want to continue working as such and have 1:30 tested instead of 1:7 then you’ll want to attend the 3rd Party quality control class.

C) If you are a HVAC contractor/technician who wants to test and certify other contractors work for compliance then you will need to take the HERS training.

2. If you want to have a change in profession and want to become a HERS Rater, then the two day class is what you’ll want to sign up for to be certified for Retrofit work only. There are a couple of other classes to take to become fully certified to handle New Construction.

3. If you have been recently trained, there is a challenge test you can take. Please call us to discuss it. By law everyone will have to be field checked on the first two jobs whether they have passed the test or not. This is a requirement of Title 20 of the California code and all other Providers would have to do this as well.
