Explanation of CBPCA-HERS Recertification Delay
As some of you may know, the California Building Performance Contractors Association’s HERS Provider role and the related Third Party Quality Control Program role of Enalasys Corporation have not yet been recertified for 2010 by the California Energy Commission. We want to assure you as a valued member or associate of the CBPCA community that this is a temporary situation due solely to the delayed delivery of our advanced new HERS Registry database management system to us for approval by the CEC.
We expect this matter to be resolved within the next 30-45 days, and we are working with the CEC to expedite our recertification with as little disruption as possible to our rater and contractor affiliates and their customers. Jobs permitted prior to January 1, 2010 will not be affected at all, and any verifications required at a 1:7 ratio instead of the usual 1:30 will not involve additional cost to our participating raters, contractors, and clients.
Dear students of the CBPCA training program:
The CBPCA introduced building science and home performance contracting to California almost a decade ago because we saw promoting energy efficient building as the most cost-effective way to reduce energy needs in California while improving the safety and comfort of the state’s homeowners. Now, it seems, home performance has become a movement and many others are following in our wake.
However, we believe that our core values and our mission set us apart from the other training programs that have sprouted up in the last few years. Our mission is to train a new generation of building professionals to be not only qualified technicians, but to understand the need and the value of promoting true and lasting energy conservation in our state. This is why all of our classes go beyond the simple state-mandated curriculums and teach theory as well as practice.
We believe that our job goes beyond just providing training to satisfy specific job requirements. Our job is to help our students and our members build long lasting careers and become leaders in the industry.
To this end, we promise you not only the most comprehensive and valuable home performance and HERS training available in California today, but an enduring commitment to you as members and to your career in this quickly changing construction industry.
We hope you enjoy your training and we look forward to hearing from you about how we can improve our programs.
Sincerely yours,
Randel R. Riedel, Managing Director
California Building Performance Contractors Association
