About the California Building Performance Contractors Association
The California Building Performance Contractors Association (CBPCA) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2001 as an answer to our state’s increasingly scarce and expensive energy supply. Funding comes from energy ratepayers under the auspices of the California Public Utilities commission.
CBPCA is the only organization in California that delivers integrated training in energy efficiency, indoor comfort, healthier indoor air, and a safer, more durable building. Our Green Home Energy Upgrade training curriculum includes HVAC systems, attic and wall insulation, air infiltration, duct sealing and moisture control, just to name a few.
CBPCA members receive free services including business referrals, usage of Energy Star logos, marketing materials and assistance, small-group field mentoring, valuable networking opportunities and online training and reference materials. Whether you’re looking to upgrade your business plan or augment your current customer base, CBPCA’s Green Home Energy Upgrade program is a valuable asset for any contractor or energy consultant.
CBPCA Goals
CBPCA was formed in 2001 to encourage a revolution in home improvement by introducing "building performance contracting" to California’s million-plus homes.
This new kind of home improvement service identifies and provides what each home needs for better energy efficiency, economy, air quality, structural soundness, long-term value, and the health, safety, and comfort of its occupants—all to meet the homeowner’s budget and in a single transaction with a specially qualified professional contractor.
Through its Green Home Energy Upgrade program, then CBPCA trains and certifies contractors, helps them adapt their business to this new service while monitoring the quality of their work. CBPCA also educates homeowners about the value of the service and refers them to qualified building performance contractors.
"It was embarrassing for me not to be able to answer questions about some of the problems in my clients' homes," said contractor Gary Richardson. "That prompted me to seek out the CBPCA and learn how to fix these homes in a more thorough manner. Now I can offer comprehensive solutions. The CBPCA training pulled it all together for me."
