Jobs Reporting Q & A

Q: What should go into my report to Homeowners?
A: We have several templates and example reports for you to consider. Ideally, you explain what you found during your initial inspection and testing, a list of what improvements you propose, and what those improvements will do to improve home performance.

Q: Some of the example Homeowner Reports have a lot of charts and figures.  Are we supposed to include all of this?
A: You may customize these as you like, or create your own format.  We encourage you to include the items described in the answer above, but the format and content of your report is up to you.

Q: I want to fill out the Jobs Reporting Template for CBPCA. What if my job didn’t include a diagnostic test-in? What if other pieces of data weren’t collected?
A: The required elements should be included In the CBPCA Jobs Data Reporting Template (xls) download above. If the job scope did not involve one of the “required” parts of the job report (e.g., there was no duct blaster test), then please enter N/A in that field. Please note that we use this information to report energy savings back to the utilities to prove the successfulness of our contractors’ efforts. Whenever you can provide information about the HVAC system and other “required” information, this will allow for us to include your job in the energy savings estimate—every job counts!

Q: What if I only updated one thing? (e.g., only insulation, HVAC, or air sealing)?
A: We understand that sometimes homeowners aren’t interested in a full set of improvements and opt to do the work in phases or only a small part of what was proposed.

We want to hear about those jobs too—any job where your work was more energy efficient/more carefully installed because of the CBPCA training. Please note that the upcoming utility incentives will stipulate how many home performance-related job elements must be included to qualify. However, we still need your job data, even those that are for small jobs.
